The workshop is dedicated to the study of ancient glasses . During the first two days of this one week workshop the participants will get an overview of the different analytical tools that are nowadays applied to study archaeological glass collections. Chemical (SEM‐EDX, LA‐ICP‐MS), optical (UV/VIS/NIR & Raman spectroscopy) and isotopic analysis will be discussed. The basic principles of these techniques are explained together with illustrations of some real‐life case‐studies. Dedicated lectures are given by top ‐ experts in the field. In the second part of the workshop lab demonstrations will be given (SEM‐EDX, UV/VIS/NIR & Raman spectroscopy) and the participants have the opportunity to perform hands ‐ on experiments with the available optical spectrum analyzers (they even can bring their own material).
