Astghik Chalyan

STEM/Outreach B-PHOT

MSc. Astghik Chalyan (17-04-1993) did her PhD research as an Early Stage Researcher within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network – European Industrial Doctorate in xCLASS (Next generation Compact Lightsource And Spectrometer Systems) project from 2018-2021. She was located at Anteryon BV (NL), with secondments in Brussels Photonics Team B-PHOT at the Faculty of Engineering of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Since August 2021 she works together with Tine De Pauw at the STEM and outreach department of B-PHOT in local outreach events, and European Projects CARLA and LasIonDef. She has obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from the Yerevan State University in 2013 and Master’s degree in Electronics and Nanoelectronics from the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University in 2015, Armenia. She had received Annual Educational Award of the President of the Republic of Armenia in IT Sphere as a best master student of RAU (sponsored by "Synopsys Armenia") in 2015. Astghik did an ERASMUS internship in NanoScience Laboratory at the University of Trento, where she focused on nonlinearity in strained silicon. Parallel she was involved in the European Project “IRIS” for testing an optical network on chip. In Armenia she has worked as a LabVIEW software engineer.
