Yunfeng Nie obtained her Master’s degree in Optical Engineering in July 2012 at University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in China. She then worked as an assistant researcher in Academy of Opto-Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her research interests focuses on optical design, computational imaging, optical modeling and optical manufacture.
She joined B-Phot in February 2014 as a Ph.D student under the Marie Curie ITN project “ADOPSYS”. Within the ADOPSYS project she will explore novel numerical and analytic approaches based on Fermat's principle to allow the design of N free-form surfaces that couple more than 2 ray-bundles. Algorithms for practical applications will be investigated according to the design methods, and the diffractive micro-structures will be studied as well for broadband performance. The target application areas regarding this research will be in the field of machine vision and imaging systems for inspection and safety.
