Andrea obtained his PhD in July 2015 within the framework of the European Marie Curie ITN project NARNIA (www.narnia-itn.eu) in a joint programme between three VUB groups: Materials and Chemistry (SURF), the Brussels Photonics Team (B-PHOT) and the Archaeological department (SKAR). He applied surface science and optical absorption methods to investigate the technology and the provenance of ancient Cypriot glass dated between the 4th and the 7th centuries AD. His work resulted in several publications in international peer-reviewed journals and conference talks.
