B-PHOT researcher Nathalie Vermeulen receives the international LIGHT2015 Young Women in Photonics Award

June 10, 2015 at 19:54

In the frame of the International Year of Light 2015, Nathalie Vermeulen from the Brussels Photonics Team receives the “LIGHT2015 Young Women in Photonics Award”. She is granted this prestigeous price for “introducing a disruptive model for the nonlinear process of Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Scattering and employing it to conceptualize a novel cooling technique for Raman lasers. She also came up with a groundbreaking phase matching approach for on-chip nonlinear wavelength converters, enabling device manufacturing in photonic foundries with standard fabrication rules. Today she impacts mid-infrared solid-state laser development, and targets next‐generation nonlinear photonic devices based on graphene.” The Award ceremony will take place on June 24 at the World of Photonics Congress in Munich.
