B-PHOT training in non-imaging optics well attended by industry

January 31, 2013 at 11:40

B-PHOT, in collaboration with researchers from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, organized a one-week training session on the design and optimization of non-imaging optical systems. The training was organized in the framework of the European project SMETHODS. The goal of SMETHODS is to provide hands-on training in optical design for people from  European industry - preferably from SME’s - in the domain of imaging, non-imaging, wave and diffractive optics.

Around twenty people from 8 different European countries joined the training session at B-PHOT in Brussels. The session featured lectures on the basic principles of non-imaging optics, practical hands-on exercises with different commercial software tools (Light Tools, ASAP, Essential Macleod) and an invited talk by Mrs. Gon Weijers from Philips.
