Lien, Lara, Evert, Iterio en Jens , 5 young B-PHOT researchers, supported by B-PHOT's outreach staff Tine De Pauw and Nathalie Debaes, triggered the interest of many visitors with optics and photonics experiments during the ‘Day of Science’ .

The visitors could for example see their own infrared image in screen, discover the impact of light polarization, investigate the different colors emitted by an energy saving light source, experiment with lenses, understand the principle of total internal reflection and why it is crucial in our ultra-fast internet, and perform color mixing with LEDs and optical filters.

Besides hands-on experiments the public also enjoyed 6 lively shows where the young researchers demonstrated different aspects of photonics and illustrated their impact on society.
