Quantum Optical Random Number Generators collaborative work selected for Phys. Rev. "Kaleidoscope"

T. Durt Institut Fresnel, Ma, C. Belmonte, F. Van den Berghe, K. Panajotov and H. Thienpont (B-PHOT, VUB) and L.-P. Lamoureux (ULB) report in Physical Review A [1] on the experimental studies of three different types of Quantum Optical Random Number Generators and their characterization by the NIST statistical tests and four new tests developed at VUB. The generators are characterized by a trade-off between the rate of generation of random bits and the degree of randomness of the series which they deliver.
