Sint Bernarduscollege Oudenaarde gets into lab-on-chips at VUB

Lab-on-chips (LoCs) can integrate different lab functionalities (e.g. sample preparation, injection, mixing, reaction, separation and detection) on a single device.  By building smart microfluidic devices, such chips could offer the sensitivity of optical detection, a fast response time, low sample consumption, parallel processing and read out, and portability.

After the lectures of prof. Ottevaere and prof. De Malsche, the students had the opportunity to start working on different tests themselves during two workshops. They presented their findings and new insights from the tests to close the visit.
