I would wholeheartedly recommend this programme to anyone interested in photonics. There is no other Master’s programme that is this internationally oriented.
Going abroad may be a life changing experience. The chance to spend time in different European cities, brings students in touch with different cultures, languages and a rich cultural heritage.
The world is at your feet
While during the first year students can follow courses at both VUB and UGent in Belgium, the second year has a more international character. Different international exchange tracks allow students to take courses and/or do a master thesis abroad, during one or two semesters. In addition, students can also opt for an industrial internship in Belgium or internationally, or go abroad for the 10-weeks internship (10 ECTS) in the photonics industry or a research institute.
Our students can rely on a strong network orf partner institutes, all of them excel in photonics, and each of them has a specific research focus.
We have strong collaborations with partner universities across Europe and worldwide:
Students can apply for Erasmus Scholarships for a selection of partner universities. Start in time to select your preferred education institute and contact our exchange coordinator to get a good view on all opportunities for courses, master thesis or an international internship.
International exchange for students from partner universities
We welcome every student who enrolled in a two-year Master in Photonics to join our European MSc. in Photonics, after year 1 of their master program. They can follow courses or do a master thesis research project at Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
This exchange can be part of an Erasmus program or separate bilateral agreement with their home institution.
