Sidney Goossens

In the program I had the opportunity to meet, and work together with, international students from all over the world, making new friends and extending my teamworking skills.

Starting a PhD

If you are looking for information to start a PhD at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, please be aware PhDs are awarded on the basis of research and the authorship and defence of a PhD thesis. This takes 4 to 6 years or sometimes even more. Grants are very limited, and competition is fierce.

In order to be considered for admission, you need to have ...

  1. a master's degree
  2. a subject
  3. a supervisor
  4. funding

Please read carefully the relevant pages on admission requirements, finding a subject and a supervisor, funding and enrolment .

All applications are screened by the relevant Faculty, and NOT by the Central PhD Office.
