Photonic components have the potential to be robust, power efficient, lightweight and reliable solution for datacom and sensing in airplanes and space payloads. B-Phot researches for instance the viability of optical interconnects for telecommunication satellite systems and investigates the space readiness of optical glasses, optical sensors and optical transceiver modules. Furthermore, B-Phot is able to design optical systems to comply with harsh specifications using special algorithms for optimisation and tolerancing of optics.
