Cyclotron

The cyclotron facility, located at our Jette campus, is being used for various applications. It is a CGR-MeV model 560 capable of producing quasi-monoenergetic ion beams in the energy range between 3 and 45 MeV. Four irradiation chambers are available. The first one is dedicated to the activation of radioactive markers for medical imaging applications (production of FDG). Another one is dedicated to the fabrication of micro-optical and micro-mechanical components through Deep Proton Writing. The two remaining rooms are general-purpose irradiation chambers, in which custom setups can be placed for specific applications, for example radiation hardness testing for space compliance certification.
