In the context of his cotutelle, in joint supervision of Université of Toulouse (France) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium), Ludovic has given the international jury a very clear presentation on the vertical integration of an electro-absorption modulator onto a VCSEL at 850nm for high-speed communications.
During his research, Ludovic has demonstrated his great scientific qualities, especially his ability to structure a team to carry out a collaborative research ranging from physics to advanced electro-optic characterizations and from component design to technology in clean-rooms. He presented a work of high scientific level on an original approach addressing the problems of short distance and very high data rate optical transmissions.
His precise and well-argued answers to the numerous questions of the jury in English and French, have demonstrated his scientific maturity, his in-depth understanding and his high level of expertise in the field.
Therefore, the jury unanimously decided to give him the title of Doctor of the University of Toulouse as well as of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Because of the high scientific output during his PhD research, the jury ranked Ludovic Marigo-Lombart among the top 2% of PhD candidates for which Ludovic Marigo-Lombart received the doctoral degree of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel with the highest honors and the felicitations of the jury.
