A paper authored by B-PHOT researchers has emerged as one of the most downloaded articles in the March edition of Optica's Optics Express journal. Titled "Fabrication of multilevel metalenses using multiphoton lithography: from design to evaluation," the paper outlines a groundbreaking procedure for designing and fabricating multilevel metalenses using multiphoton-based direct laser writing.

B-PHOT has been selected as part of an international consortium to receive a prestigious European grant for the '360 CARLA' project. The initiative is designed to tackle the shortage of qualified professionals in photonics fields by promoting careers among students and researchers. The consortium aims to capitalize on the success of the previous project, CARLA, by expanding the pool of participants pursuing careers in photonics.

Last week, a delegation from B-PHOT took part in a trade mission to Catalonia, Spain, aimed at fostering scientific collaborations between the two regions and discussing European partnerships. The delegation included Flemish Minister President Jan Jambon and B-PHOT director Hugo Thienpont.

B-PHOT researcher Nathalie Vermeulen serves as program chair for this year's Integrated Photonics Research (IPR) meeting of OPTICA. This meeting is part of the Advanced Photonics Congress taking place from 28 July to 1 August 2024 in Quebec, Canada. Conference abstracts can be submitted until 9 April.
