B-Phot, co-coordinator of the European Biophotonics Network Photonics for Life (http://www.photonics4life.eu/ ), hosted the European Cluster Meeting on Biophotonics on November 5th 2010. This meeting, which was held in the new incubation center of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, brought together more than 65 top-stakeholders in Biophotonics research from all over Europe. Many of them presented their most recent achievements and started discussions towards creating a shared vision on tomorrow’s needs for Biophotonics in Europe. At this occasion Dr. Ronan Burgess from the European Photonics Unit gave a presentation on funding opportunities for biophotonics research at the European level in the upcoming photonics calls 7 and 8 of EU FP7. Dr Burgess put a special emphasis on the ERA-NET Plus funding instrument on Biophotonics that is currently being launched.
