Nathalie Vermeulen received the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering with majors in photonics from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Brussels, Belgium, in 2004, and the Ph.D. degree from VUB in 2008. Since October 2013 she is a Tenure Track Professor in the Brussels Photonics Team (B-PHOT) at VUB. In 2013, she received a Starting Grant from the European Research Council (ERC), and since then she has also been coordinating a European Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) project. Her current research interests range from graphene-based nonlinear optics and biosensing to integrated diamond photonics and mid-infrared solid-state lasers.
