I spent a very memorable semester at TONA as a part of my Erasmus Mundus MSc in Photonics course.
Technological innovations originated from light appear at a faster pace than ever. Photonics is a key enabling technology for the 21st century. The European Master of Science in Photonics offers a multidisciplinary program combining basic and advanced photonics courses with physics and engineering courses and indispensable training in state-of-the-art labs at Vrije Universiteit Brussels.
Students who enroll for our master at VUB can apply for one of the 5 full scholarships for photonics at VUB and B-PHOT Excellence Scholarships.
This is what you can expect from our program:
Based on your interest, you can design your master program combining a wide variety of photonics courses, specialised electives and skills development like microphotonics, laser engineering, optical communication, biophotonics, semiconductor physics and optical sensors.
Thanks to our excellent partnerships with industry or research institutes in Belgium and abroad, you have the chance to get a first professional experience through valuable internships in Belgium or abroad. Next to the problem-solving approach, complementary courses in business economics pave the way to the most wanted jobs.
This European Master has a duration of two years (120 ECTS points) and leads to a joint degree from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Universiteit Gent.
