Dr. Martin Virte from VUB B-Phot receives distinguished research grant from FWO

09-01-2018

The Research Foundation in Flanders (FWO Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek) has awarded Dr. Martin Virte’s research grant “ReFlex – Reconfigurable node for flexible secure networks”.

This type of FWO funding supports excellent researchers such as Martin who pursue a career in fundamental research. With this project, he targets the development of reconfigurable nodes for secure and flexible networks. Exploiting chaotic polarization fluctuations generated from a solitary laser diode, Martin will investigate original techniques to create a flexible chaotic transceiver for fast and secure chaos communication system. With the FWO research grant, Martin will be able to purchase a state-of-the-art ultra-high resolution optical spectrum analyser that will provide essential insight in the understanding and mastering of chaotic dynamics and for secure data communications.
