B-PHOT's Post-Doctoral researcher Dr. Pablo Marin-Palomo has obtained an FWO Post-Doctoral Fellowship from Research Foundation - Flanders.

Vrije Universiteit Brussel (B-PHOT) & the Royal Observatory of Belgium (ROB) are looking for a senior Researcher in the context of the FED-tWIN programme to develop a new space mission for the measurement of the Earth's Energy Imbalance through innovative optical & thermal instruments with high accuracy and stability.

Last week, the full B-PHOT team left the labs and offices for a three-day off-site meeting with inspiring seminars, creative workshops, delicious meals and relaxing activities. A perfect time to bring our amazing group together in Affligem, Belgium!

The Uzbek universities participating in the INMACOM project have paid a visit to the facilities of VUB and UGent in the framework of a collaboration between Belgium and Uzbekistan to set up a master's programme in photonics and optical communications.

The 'Journal of Physics: Photonics' has published an article on the composition of nonlinear-optical data tables for emerging materials. The paper is a collaboration with twenty international experts under the coordination of B-PHOT researcher Prof. Nathalie Vermeulen.

The winners of the 2023 B-Photonics Cup have been decided! The annual competition between several schools in Belgium is an initiative of VUB, B-PHOT and Colruyt Group Technics and helps young students to develop their own gadget of the future by using light, together with their classmates and their science teachers.

Last week, B-PHOT welcomed the high school students from Don Bosco Halle at the VUB Photonics Campus. Our research team gave them an impression of what a photonics engineer does exactly and with a tour through the labs, they learned what life looks like as a scientist!

VUB and B-PHOT are working on the Einstein Telescope project, one of the 11 priorities of the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures to address European challenges. This unique third-generation gravitational-wave observatory wants to put Europe at the forefront of Gravitational Wave research.

Last Wednesday, Vrije Universiteit Brussel hosted the annual Photonics Networking Event of the Master of Science in Photonics Engineering. Our students gathered at the VUB Main Campus to connect with industry leaders and to follow some interesting workshops on CV writing and creative thinking.
