David Vannerom
In 2014, David graduated from the École Polytechnique de Bruxelles at ULB, with a Master in Applied Physics. He then chose to start an academic career as Aspirant FNRS in particle physics at the Interuniversity Institute for High Energies (IIHE), which is a joint research center between the two Brussels universities: ULB and VUB. This work was done at the CMS experiment at CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). After 4 years of research on Dark Matter and Fractionally Charged Particles, he decided to deviate from collider physics to join the IceCube experiment in the MIT group. After two exciting years at the University of Wisconsin and at MIT in Boston, he came back to Brussels to start an FWO postdoctorat at IIHE.
In 2024, after 10 years of High Energy Physics, David decided to take another road, one that leads to applied physics, which he was educated to do. He joined the Royal Observatory of Belgium (ROB) and the B-PHOT center at VUB to take part in the Earth Climate Observatory (ECO) project. This project aims to measure the Earth Energy Imbalance (EEI) which is a key indicator of the Earth global warming. During the 5 years that he will work on this project, he will attempt to make it ready for the next phase of ESA selection process. Good luck ECO!
