Yousef Pourvais

Yousef Pourvais (07-08-1991) is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Engineering of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Yousef did his bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and his master’s in optics, both in Iran. He has a multidisciplinary background in mechanical engineering, metallurgy and optical measurement. Currently, his research is focused on the application of several optical characterization techniques, such as Raman spectroscopy, in studying protein aggregation and phase-separation. The final application of this line of research will be a better understanding and hopefully treatment of several diseases like ALS and Alzheimer, through testing and measurement of these proteins.
