Optica's Optics & Photonics News interviewed several experts about the hunt for skilled photonics talent and came to Prof. Thienpont to see how PhotonHub approaches training & reskilling in photonics.

2022 was a very dynamic year for the Optical Fiber Sensing group, where we continued developing and promoting fiber sensing technology based on specialty fibers and advanced sensor fabrication techniques for different applications and domains.

On Sunday November 26 2022, more than 30 000 visitors came by for Day of Science ("Dag van de Wetenschap") to discover technology, physics, space, society and several other scientific disciplines. B-PHOT was represented by several researchers together with our STEM team of B-Photonics and Eyest.

A recent manuscript on the composition of nonlinear-optical data tables for emerging materials has been published and accepted in the Journal of Physics: Photonics. This work is the result of a collaboration with 20 international experts under the coordination of B-PHOT researcher Prof. Nathalie Vermeulen.

B-PHOT gathered the forces at a three-day Retreat meeting in the Belgian coast town of Oostduinkerke. At this off-site meeting, we shared our knowledge with some seminars, and got to know each other better with some good food and a fun golf-kart rally!
